Benefit Magic, LLC was founded in 2001 by Andrea Crane, who has had over twenty-five years of experience as a human resources consultant, specializing early in her career in the area of training and development and later in the area of employee benefits. Working as a training consultant to insurance companies for a number of years, Andrea developed a keen interest in insurance, which lead to her subsequent transition to employee benefits as her key area of focus.

Prior to founding Benefit Magic, Andrea served as and President and co-founder of Training Consultants Incorporated and then as Chief Knowledge Officer and Vice President of Customer Care for a Chicago-based insurance agency.

Andrea earned a Bachelor's Degree in History at Northwestern University, and later returned to Northwestern, where she completed an MBA with majors in Organizational Development and Business Policy at the Kellogg School of Management.
